"Yes, summoner."

Because the wording on a decent circle like this will have both specific prohibitions, and general prohibitions on things like communication-even-when-encoded-except-as-specified.

Sigh. "I am sorry. I might try summoning you under better bindings, but this book says it's dangerous."

Pause.

"Do you want to hurt me?"

"No, summoner."

"Okay..." This is at least better than an outright yes.

"I am really having trouble working around the gag. I bet you had very frustrating trade negotiations in the past because of them."

Laugh. "Yes, summoner."

Felix giggles despite the fact that he is talking with a demon.

Flip, read.

"Are you interested in others forms of payment that aren't... soul based?"

"Yes, summoner."

It would be nice if they led up to a soul, eventually, but sure, he's got more than the one hobby.

"Are you interested in..." he reads the suggestions, "books? literature in general? music?

Felix keeps reading and turns a page, reads and blushes.

He says "yes, summoner" to each of those, though not with vast enthusiasm. And laughs at the blush. He can guess what that one was.

He does giggles again, albeit a bit more self-conscious, and maybe staring at the nipple ring a bit.

"I really shouldn't introduce you to my brother. Well... do people often regret making deals with you?"

He doesn't actually have great information on whether people regret it. Probably at least half of them have second thoughts, sometimes, given the whole 'deal with a devil' matter. Probably less than half of them genuinely regret it, in the long term, even before they die.

The thing is, though, people don't often make deals with him, by any reasonable standard of "often." Summonses are rare.

"No, summoner."

"Good..." Felix says uncertain, "are you picky about what you wanna trade?"

He ... would accept a fairly wide variety of trades, but would be picky within those categories. Not an easy yes or no. So he omits answering, in favor of smirking and streeeeeetching.

Felix rethinks the question... maybe it's not a clear yes or no...

"Are you picky about kinds of payment? Or picky about quality of payment? Or picky about what you would make?"

"No, summoner; yes, summoner; no, summoner."

"How not picky are you about your end of the bargain?" Felix asks... "Wait, sorry, that wasn't yes-or-no... Would you be less inclined to accept deals where you create destructive things?"

"Yes, summoner." He wouldn't categorically refuse, depending on how destructive, but less inclined, sure.

"Would you be more inclined to accept deals where you create things to be used for the greater good?"

"Yes, summoner."

Not that that would be decisive, but it would be a point in the deal's favor, sure. And not that he'll necessarily agree about what the greater good is. This wouldn't be the first summoner to pull that.

If Felix was aware of his thoughts, he might agree with the sentiment.

"And, the relevant consideration is the moral aspect or something else?"

Eyeroll. "Yes, summoner..." -- of course it would be in the disjunction of those two cases...

Oh, right. "The relevant consideration is the moral aspect of the trade?"

"Yes, summoner."

Felix sighs. "This gag is annoying. Do summoners actually prefer to use them?"
