She takes his jaw in her hand and softly applies the cream.

"Are you flirting with me, Mr. Starr?"

"I would never," he lies, leaning into her touch.

She finishes applying the cream to his jaw and cheekbone. She doesn't let go of his jaw.

"You know, most people would hold a grudge."

"Ha. If I held a grudge against anyone who ever hurt me I'd have a heck of a lot of grudges. Besides, I said I didn't mind, didn't I? There's a lot of worse things than getting beat up by someone as glorious as you. Not a whole lot of better things, really."

"Flatterer," she says right before she kisses him.

Mmmm kisses. He leans into her, kissing back for a long moment, and then pulls away just a bit, still close enough that their breath mingles.

"My, Miss Thorne," he murmurs. "Seducing your mentor? What will the public think?"

More kisses, then; "Maybe they'll be into it. A forbidden romance always gets them going, doesn't it?"

"True," he muses, then smiles, "If you wanna play it that way, we can talk about it later?" He suggests.

"You're the expert here. I'm gonna have to trust you know what you're doing."

"Mn. I've only done this once, and..." his face falls for a moment, but he shakes it off quickly, "I know how to steer my own reputation, though, and we can trust Aydon to help."

"What's his story?"

"His games were probably before you would have remembered them," he hums, "He made alliances and then betrayed each one once they'd let their guard down. After he won, he was... a mess. Not like that's special, or anything," he acknowledges, "But he was one of the worse cases. Something Circe did kicked him out of it, though - she's a District 2 Victor, the girl's Mentor this year - and he's been her man ever since. He'll listen to my recommendations."

"And you trust this Circe?"

She has spent most of her life ignoring the goings-on of the Games. Even when she was forced to stand and watch them she didn't pay any attention.

"She's basically mine and Luca's second mother." There's other reasons, too, but he's already said too much about the resistance as it is. "I trust her."

"Guess it's only my life on the line."

He flinches minutely, "I- sorry. She'll agree you're a better option than Valens, at least. And... better than Cheshire or the others, too, I think."

She kisses him again in a slight apology. "Cheshire?"

He hums, nodding, "The girl from Two. She's... cruel, and almost completely untrustworthy. She's been the back up career for her age group every year since she was twelve. She'll probably be the most dangerous of the Careers this year."

"No alliance with her then, looks like?"

"I wouldn't risk it. And I don't know even that much about the others, so I can't give you much advice on them yet." His mouth twists, "I might have something for you when Seven's are drawn, but not yet."

"Why'd they choose you to mentor Three, anyway?"

He shrugs, "Someone convinced a... friend, to suggest I take the job. He didn't tell me who it was, so I have no idea what their reasons were."

She runs her hand down his jaw softly. "Seems like a mystery we should solve."

He leans into it, eyelashes fluttering, "Might be able to make some progress on it while we're in the Capitol," he murmurs.

She keeps up with the pets then, wants to make him feel good.

"Tell me about your brother?"
