Miko, meanwhile, has to find somewhere else to go in the morning.

Maybe if he goes to the place he was dragged to yesterday there'll be more food?

He can continue attending public school and eating wildly inadequate free lunches for as many days as he wants.

Well, this is pretty much worse than being a slave was in most ways. Seeing the sky is nice but so was knowing he wasn't going to starve or drop dead from exhaustion.

Maybe he should keep exploring the world and see if there's somewhere better to be.

Zaia finds him while he's still wandering the streets, offers him a hand, takes him home with her. She'll let Azula know she found him but he deserves a chance to rest somewhere safe before anything else.

Azula sends her congratulations and asks if Zaia needs anything.

Not really, no, but they can come see her at some point.

On the other side of the world from there, in the Earth Kingdom, Daira and her teacher reach the colonies.

She's going to learn earthbending! It's going to be great!

How soon can they meet Lee's friend?

Doesn't take too long. She invites them over for dinner.

Daira will be quiet and polite and paying attention for now.

Too bad, Darena has questions.

"So how do you know Lee?"

Oh, wait. Oh no.

"I think my parents introduced us? It feels like it was so long ago now."

"Family friend, huh? What brings you two all the way out here together?"

"I wanted to see the world," Daira says in perfect deadpan.

"I can understand that. The world's a big place with a lot to see. Want me to recommend some places to visit while you're here?"

She has a handful of places to recommend.

"...and I don't know if you'd get anything out of a library..."

"Not on my own, sadly."

"That's horrible. You'll have to see everything for yourself, then."

"Mhm. I don't know, it would be nice to be able to read, if I feel like I'm missing out on anything, it's that."

"Can you read engravings?"

"With some effort, yes."

"It's probably impossible to make the information as dense and portable as scrolls but maybe there's something to be done in that vein, maybe some kind of compromise, stone's not the only material that holds its shape..."
