"So what do you do when you're not fighting scary robots?"

"Yeah, we don't really know what we're doing either. We ditched our stupid parents and now we're going to Denver because it's better than living in the woods probably."

"Huh. What'd your parents do?"

"Yell at us a lot and say we're no good and they don't give us dinner if we don't get our chores done. And they hate pretty much everybody."

"Well, that sucks."

"They were the worst! But now they have no idea where we are, I bet. We're going to go to Denver and get jobs and stuff and never see them again."

"Uh, there are no jobs in Denver. Beside getting squashed by robots."

"Those robots squashed all of Denver?" He's not sure how big Denver is, besides "big", but he thought it would be harder to squash than that. He turns to his cousin. "Now what are we gonna do?"

"Don't worry, cuz, we'll think of something. There have to be jobs someplace, it can't be all robots everywhere."

"Say, you two attached to being all human?"

"All human instead of what, exactly?" Is Hannah offering to give them mutant powers even though they're not mutants? Or can she turn people into birds or something? Being a bird might be fun but she'd miss being able to talk.

"Miracles! Or mutants I guess."

"That would be so. Cool!"

"What does becoming mutants, or miracles I guess, do? Besides the powers, I mean. Does it hurt?"

"No, less' you hate being slimy for a bit. You'll live for ever until someone kills you."

"That does sound pretty neat . . ." Unspoken is, but there's got to be a catch somewhere.

Jennifer is also familiar with the concept of "too good to be true". "Tell you what, Bruce, I'll do it first and tell you if it's good or not." And if there is a catch, Bruce won't get hit with it and between the two of them they should be able to rescue her from it.

Gulp. "Okay. I'll try not to let anything bad happen."

"Shall we get started?"

"Sure. What do I need to do?"

Hannah proceeds to form a stinger on her pinky finger. Which she then jabs into Jennifer's wrist.

"Now follow me."

She leads the pair to a sheltered looking ruin, before somehow making part of her... substance pool and liquefy onto the floor. A few seconds later, something like gelatin is in its place.

"Eat that when you get hungry. Do what your body says. I'd ditch the clothes if I were you."

Jennifer winced at being stung, but doesn't say anything. She follows Hannah and Bruce follows her.

"I won't get sick from eating off the floor? Huh." She says of the gelatin blob. "Why do I need to take off my clothes?" She starts taking them off as she says this, though; Hannah's a girl and she's gone swimming with Bruce loads of times.

"You're gonna get real sticky. Besides, they're lame. And I promise the food goo is sterile."

"Oh, yeah, I don't want sticky clothes." She piles them in a corner, and her stomach grumbles. She swipes a finger through the goo and takes an experimental taste.
