Eventually, Trix returns and is composed enough to agree to this plan.

And eventually, they knock at the door.

Rex waits outside. He can make it there in a matter of minutes, but whatever this PI is, they won't sense them.

The PI answers the door.

"Yes? Is there something I can help you with?"

Felicia - looking concerned - says. "Are you Allison Theron the PI? Do you mind if we come in?"

"Come in."

She steps aside, revealing a cozy waiting room with a few armchairs, a water cooler, and some magazines on the table.

"I am not sure... I don't waste your time."

"One thing to worry is how likely are you to contact the police." Fernanda tells Allison. Which is entirely true, if disparate from the fact of her being a demon or whatever.

"Unless you confess to a crime, we can keep the police out of your business."

She sits behind what seems to be a reception desk, though it's not staffed.

They take the armchair sits. "I-We... What exactly do you do for your job?"

"Like, do you follow people around or do you follow people around in disguises?"

"No jokes, please."

"I investigate mysteries. Solve problems. It depends on what the client wants, and how much they're willing to pay."

"Is the sort of job that sounds more exciting than it actually is?"

"Oh, I manage to have fun. It depends on what kind of problem you've brought to me."

Trix gives Felicia a meaningful look.

Felicia debates internally and says. "I don't know enough about my problem. My boyfriend... he was with a bad crowd and there had been many details that I have been overlooking and it's not something I could add up to anything that I could go to the police."

"What kind of bad are we talking? Drunk rich kids with money to burn, gang members trying to initiate him, fellow perps he met on the inside...I might need a little more to go on than 'bad', ma'am."

"Gang members? He is not poor, but his parents died young."

"Which, is the sort of thing that adds to the pile of 'weird but not actually incriminating' we think."

Felicia slowly nods. "And there are things like weird bruises. The fact that one of his friends died. And just general... I don't know an air of secrecy? And then a few days ago he suddenly needed to avoid nearly all of his old friends. Then all of suddenly he came to New York, apparently to find something."

"Weird bruises?"

She starts writing on a notepad.

She makes a helpless gesture. "They are weird for being there at all, but... their marks are just not shaped like  I would a expect the mark left by a fist? Or even by a blunt object?" She can describe or even draw some basic shapes, taken from actual memory.

"I think I might have seen something like this in a previous case. What else do you think I should know before I look into it?"

Fernanda answers this. "To the best of our abilities he doesn't do drugs. Which, on one hand is good. On the other it doesn't make the situation that much clearer."
