"That sounds nice. None of the gods where I'm from care much what happens to mortals."

"I would like to be happy. But, I think I have to try and survive first, before I can worry about that."

"Well, that's up to you, I guess."

Maybe if she walks in front and tries not to think about him the curse won't be so nagging at her head. She's obviously not going to - what, give in? Would that be the right word? But no sense making it worse than it needs to be.

When she's not looking directly at him, the curse isn't a powerful. The memories don't weaken, but it isn't still pulling at her.

Well, that's better than the alternative. She hopes he doesn't mind.

They can walk quietly for a few hours. They pass a few ruins, rotted-out building frames, old crumbling walls. They pass a stable, and Link takes them on a path out in the rolling fields a ways so they avoid other people. Someone sees them and shouts, but doesn't follow them when Link angles away and around a hill. They have to deal with monsters again at one point, but they're as easily dispatched as before. Soon enough, a tall cliff with outcrops of stonework is visible.

"That's where we're going. The abandoned temple is up on that plateau. I have a way to get you up - a glider, and wind magic. I get you up with the wind, you toss it back down, then I come up. Sound okay?"

They can go do that, then. She's a bit nervous for her glider, but risks must be taken in any adventure!

"So, you hold it like this, and when the wind takes you up to the top of the plateau swing your legs forward, you'll tilt forward and go over and land. Hold on tight when I make the updraft, you hear?"

"Okay. I can do that."

Link gets closer to him, closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, bends down slightly-

-And then there's a huge gust of wind, straight up, and he's being carried to the top of the cliff-like walls.

He holds on as tight as he can and swings his legs forward at the appropriate time.

Then he can safely land, possibly with some stumbling, at the top of the walls! There's a whole 'nother landscape up here!

"You land okay?" Link shouts up.

"Yeah!" he shouts and tosses the glider back down.

Link follows up on the glider a moment later. "Not so hard a trip, yeah? Look, you can see the temple from here..." It's up a long upward slope, and then a long set of stairs, and seems to be partly collapsed - all the sturctures around here are less ruined than those below, but still ruined. But it's definitely a large, cathedral-like building.

"What happened to it?"

"Just... Neglect. Only one other person lives up here now. Abandoned and empty. Just like all the ruins. It used to be a holy place. Still is, I suppose... Some of the towns further away from the castle are better off."

"That doesn't anger her?"

"I'm sure she doesn't like it, but anger wouldn't achieve anything, will it? There's no-one here. Once Ganon is stopped and the kingdom restored, surely we'll make an effort to repair it all."

"At home, if a god's temples were allowed to fall into disrepair, they would punish the people with floods or fires or monsters until a proper apology was made."

"Well, Ganon would do that if he had any temples in the first place. I think I prefer Goddess Hylia. She's nice."

"Who is Ganon?"

"The evil god Hylia constantly fights. He wants to kill everyone, send monsters everywhere, spread this icky goo called malice, that kind of thing. He wants to destroy the world. I'm gonna stop him."

"Why? Doesn't he live here?"

"Yeah! I don't know! But it's pretty clear he does, since the Guardians basically slaughtered everything. You saw all those ruins, yeah? It's a lot worse near the castle. I snuck close and looked, once."

"That's terrible," he says.

"I thought we had horrible gods, but none want to destroy the world."

"Yeah. Well. Hylia is very good, and Ganon is very evil. Ganon's always been pushed back before. I can do it again. So I'm here helping Hylia because I want everyone to be happy and safe."

He smiles at her.

"That's good of you."
