"We could try! I've never prayed to her before."

"It'll work best by a temple or statue in her image! I even know where we can find one away from people! It's a little, uh, abandoned, but I could hear her there."

"We should make sure the monsters aren't drawn to me first, so I don't put you in danger."

"Oh, I can deal with monsters. Moblins and bokoblins and so on, at least. And I'm not all that squishy myself. If you insist, though... We should head south to test that, though. Northwest are Guardians, and even I'm afraid of those things."

"What are they?"

"Weird-shaped metal monsters that run around really fast on six legs and shoot blue fire. Very dangerous. At least Guardians are definitely machines, not people."

"If you can fight the monsters, I'm happy to go with you. I just didn't know if they were the type of thing you can win against or the type of thing where you fight just for a chance."

"Against red ones, most people can win if they're disciplined and decently equipped. Against black ones, most people should just run, but me? I can deal with 'em just fine. Should be just red ones, if there's any at all, on the route I'm thinking of to the old temple."

"Okay. Thank you," he says, meaning it and smiles at her.

"Of course, least I could do. There's things I really need to do, but nothing that can't wait a day or two. Nobody should have to deal with such a nasty curse. I still only have the one tent, though."

"I don't mind sleeping outside! I haven't ever been in a forest before."

"Woah, really? Never? There's forests all over the place!"

"Not as much where I'm from. I'm from a city on a plain and haven't had a chance to go far."

"You're in for a treat, then. Hyrule doesn't really have cities anymore, but it has all sorts of natural splendor. It's pretty great."

He grins.

"Maybe I can learn to fight and live out here. Everywhere at home is too full of people."

"I can teach you to fight! Er. Well, that'd involve getting closer to you and maybe touching you, so..." She definitely wants to do that, but she trails off and shrugs, looking uncomfortable.

"I don't mind being touched, but if it's hard for you I can try to figure it out on my own. Failing is a lot less bad for me than it'd be for most people!"

"It'd be weird, but maybe tolerably weird? But probably a bad idea." (She has a mental image of beating him in a spar, standing over him with tousled hair, leaning down and kissing-)

She blushes. "...Yeah. Bad plan to actually touch you. It's already plenty weird that your curse is messing with my head like this. Though, trying to figure out how to fight on your own probably won't help much. I can probably show you some stuff without it getting too weird, though?"

"That would be good. I know how to fight a little, but not with a sword and I don't now how good that'll be against monsters."

"You probably want a sword. Or a bow and arrow. Or at least a club. Maybe a spear? ...Nah."

She takes a little square artifact from her hip and does something to it. In a flash of blue light, a short sword and wooden shield appear and fall to the ground. "Your basic gear. Try holding it, get familiar with the weight and grip, but don't swing it around too much or anything. I should probably finish cooking, put the fire out, pack up, and then we can start walking south. Sooner we leave, sooner we get to the temple, yeah?"

"How did you do that?" he asks, impressed.

"It's Sheikah technology! Sheikah stuff is awesome. I really don't understand it, apparently it likes me because I'm a legendary hero or something? It's cool, right?"

He grins and leans down to pick up the sword and the shield.

"It is."

"You put your arm through that leather loop and grab the handle - no, the other way..."

She puts the fire out with a bucket of water and starts poking through the embers, making sure they go out.

Nikasios tests the weight of the sword but doesn't wildly swing it around.
