They are in the basement.
She tries to point at their collars and uniforms without dropping under water.
"I'm sorry. We're mages. I'm really sorry. I don't understand."
"Mages? Isn't that just a fancy word for witch? Those aren't real."
"I'm sorry, I don't understand."
"Stop saying that! Gah!"
"...Don't be. It's fine. You two want a lift?"
"At your disposal." And, because everyone knows that rule, but also she is getting tired, and if he just goes away what will happen to Jany,
"If we're supposed to stay here, might we know how long, please?"
"Look, I'm taking you to my place, alright?"
'yes' without 'sir' doesn't sound very right.
The boy wraps an arm around each child's waist, and suddenly they're rising out of the water, into the air. "Neat, right?" he asks.
...Sir. 'm sorry." (She hasn't necessarily followed that part of the conversation.)
"Ready? Gonna go fast!"
It is probably what they're supposed to do to answer that, since it's a question?
She stares around excitedly, wide-eyed.
And suddenly they're zooming over the water like tiny missiles, though the air hits their face softly.
Now that she isn't scared about drowning (she's still scared about other things), everything is really pretty.
"My place," the boy declares smugly.
She is confused and not sure about things. The island is also really pretty though.
"Shall we land?"
She doesn't think that is actually a question, so she doesn't say anything but waits for him to do it.
(She didn't really hear-process the question at all. Wow!!)
He lets go of the pair. Somehow, they fall very slowly.
