Zevran takes Devera's hand, and rolls up her sleeve slightly. He does the same with his own. Matching scars ring them.

"You asked me to kill you. I've never had a mark do that before."

Her eyes flick down to them and then back up to meet his eyes.

"Stunning tactic on my part then," she jokes lightly.

"Well, it got my attention pretty thoroughly, so perhaps you are more tactician then you know." Zevran gives her a very serious look, though the corner of his mouth twitches.

She smiles at him.

"All those hours waiting on my Master while she works her plans must have done me some good. Maybe not so much her though."

"Very true. You might be pleased to know that she is very, very dead and the house they were keeping you in has been mostly destroyed. There is talk that they pull the whole thing down entirely. Blood magic leaves a stench."

"Like you wouldn't believe. I grew used to it." She pulls her feet out of the water and crosses her legs, turning to face him properly. "Then that just leaves me..."

Zevran tucks one leg underneath himself as he sits beside her. "Not quite. According to the Crows, you are also dead. In fact, you were killed promptly, and your body destroyed. Devera is no more."

He strokes a thumb along her hand. "You are a ghost."

"Pretty solid for a ghost." She watches their joined hands. "What would you have of me then, Zevran Arainai of the Antivan Crows?"

Zevran stares at her for a moment, eyes wide with shock. "Well. Some sort of telepathic abilities, alongside the strength of ten men, you must remind me to never get on your bad side. Like, perhaps, were I to attempt to assassinate you."

"Wildling, the woman who wandered off, is the ally I spoke of the other day. She is powerful, and more than willing to help find a way to solve your...passenger problem. We would like to take you somewhere safe to do so. All of this is to be done with your consent or not at all. If you would rather live the life of a ragamuffin on the street, I'll make sure you do that too."

"Why? Your reputation proceeds you, this seems... completely out of character." She runs her fingers across the scars on his wrist. "But they also didn't mention this."

"Yes, well, you can't trust everything you hear on the streets. If the people knew the Crows had soft sides, we wouldn't be feared very much."

He curls his fingers so the tips of them run along Devera's wrist as she touches his scar. "The only people who know about those are Crows themselves. It is...not an easy process, becoming one."

"Is it worth it?"

"...a complicated question, with a complicated answer. Put simply, it is not a life you choose."

"We could run."

A look flickers over Zevran's face, longing maybe? It's gone too quickly to be sure, replaced by the smirk that seems to be his normal expression. "You tire already of my beautiful city? For shame. You have many wonders yet to discover!"

She lets it pass.

"With such a handsome tour guide accompanying me? How can I refuse."

"First things first, we had best collect Wildling before she causes a scene and then I have to explain to irate Templars that she's not a mage, good sers, oh no, merely a prankster able to hold fire."

Zevran hops onto his feet, holding out his hand to help Devera up.

She takes his hand and uses it to stand.

"The dreaded Templars. The horror stories I've heard."

He gives her a very serious look. “All true. You can ask Wildling for the gory details.”

He leads Devera back towards the fish market.

She goes where he leads.

"So what have you been doing these past few days?"

"Keeping a low profile, ensuring that the Crows couldn't be lead back to you, training, the occasional snack, nothing too strenuous."

He grins.

"And here I was enjoying the good street urchin life. While you were risking your neck for me. I am very shamed." She pauses. "Did you bring me a snack?"

"I'm not enough of one?"

She laughs and bumps her hip into him.

"Don't tempt me. It would blow your poor mortal mind. I have mercy."

Zevran looks intrigued, and very put out. "You could stand to have a little less mercy. You cannot say things like that and expect me not to be tempted.”
