"It's not yours either, Naess. We'll see what the group thinks."

She shrugs and turns back to her food.

Sarah ignores her and looks over at the other table.

"We'll figure it out tonight, Callie is organising a meet-up. Beforehand I might go visit my old neighbour. Haven't seen him for a while."

"Is this a solo mission?"

"Matt volunteered. But you're welcome to take his place, if you want."

"No, I get it. Couple's night and all. Catch you when you're done with them?"

"Yeah. I probably... still need to go get my stuff from the Byrnes. But. I can avoid that for a while longer, maybe?"

"I can wait."

"I'd appreciate it. Going back there is... kind of terrifying."

"You're kind of a badass now. You can handle a couple of teenagers."

"I've always been a badass, but you have a point."

"So what we thinking for this weekend? I know we talked about the zoo, but there's always so many kids. I'd rather see animals in their natural habitat anyway."

"Hiking?"

"For now. Let's do a longer vacation when we all have a free weekend."

Khloe does her usual extracurriculars. Today's activity being cheerleading. She works on the routine and socialises. Gets updates on all the gossip that happened while she was busy doing something else.

Kasper sits in the library and works on his formulas, completely immersed. He ignores anyone that attempts to talk to him.

Sarah attempts to distract herself in her art. It doesn't work very well.

Later that evening, Callie finishes setting up for the party. Her mother has agreed to make herself scarce (it's not a date, she insists, and Callie pretends to believe her).

The spread is simple enough, since this is more business than pleasure, but there's enough food for six.

She has an early guest at her door.

She opens it.

"Kasper, good to see you. You can get started with the hors d'oeuvres while we wait. As soon as we have four we can start moving the furniture."

The weather channel is on in the background, helpfully broadcasting the weather. The curtains are pulled shut.

He gestures to his bulky messenger bag containing his laptop.

"Place to set up?"

“You can use the library.”

She leads him through a room with several bookcases and a neatly arranged desk.

”How much progress have you made so far?”

"Have a program running for the language. It's translated enough that I can work through the first layer of encryption. There's a lot of complicated math, beyond what we have here on earth."
