Amy Pond wakes up to the sound of a car horn. She groans, shoves the blankets off of her, and sits up. It's a Saturday morning, the first day of spring break, and she wants nothing more than to sleep all day. Unfortunately, her friends have other plans.
"It's like two hours north of here. It's on the shore of some lake, and in the middle of the mountains or something."
"You haven't been there?" Natsuki asks, a bit confused.
"Nah, it's my cousin's place. But he's gonna be out of town for a few weeks and he said we could have it for the weekend."
"Do I know this cousin of yours?" Amy asks.
"How many rooms are there? Will we have to share?" Moira asks. "If we do, I call Amy."
"Aw, thanks." Amy laughs. "But I think I'll take the couch."
"No, you don't know him." Eric says to Amy, and then to Moira: "There's five rooms, actually. That's why I brought five people."
"Yeah, cause there's no way I'm sharing a room." Mickey tells them. "I asked about that before I even agreed to come."
"Liar." Natsuki giggles. "You asked about that ten minutes ago, on the way here." She is absolutely delighted to be included in this group of mostly older, 'cooler' students.
"And we're coming back Monday morning, right?" Moira questions.
"This is gonna be fun." Amy enthuses. "Give me that." She motions to the aux cord on the floor of the front seat.
"Huh? Why?" Mickey asks.
"Oh no, don't you dare..." Moira groaned, realizing what Amy was about to do.
"What? I'm just gonna put on music." She says innocently, reaching her hand out for the cord.
Mickey hands her the cord.
"What you're about to put on does not count as music, Amy!"
"Why, what's she putting on?"
"I'm praying to god that she's not about to put on-"
"Relax, Moira. I'm literally not putting that on." Amy presses play and a nice, fun song begins to play. It is most definitely not the one Moira was freaking out about.
"Oh, I know this song!" Natsuki exclaims.
The next hour and a half of the car ride pass in what feels like no time at all. Amy is having fun, laughing with her friends and jamming out to the music. They're on what seems like a deserted country road when she remarks, "Hey, we're getting kind of low on gas."
"Shit!" Eric curses, slamming his palm on the steering wheel. "I filled up last night, there's no way we could be out this soon."
"Maybe there's a gas station somewhere." Natsuki suggests. "I mean, people live around here, right? They have to get gas from somewhere."
"Nobody lives out here. We're screwed." Mickey shakes his head.
