Toni doesn't acknowledge her sister and drives her to school, to detention, in silence. Well, maybe she turns up the music obnoxiously loud. She can passive-aggress with the best of them.
She gives them to him.
"So what sort of trouble are we getting ourselves into, anyway? Did you rob a bank?"
"Nothing that illustrious, don't worry. Surprised you haven't heard to be honest."
"I'm not exactly up to date on all the latest gossip. Been kind of distracted."
"Join the club," Joss mutters. She's silent for a few moments. "New bitch on the team decided to be an absolute jerkoff. I- taught her a lesson."
"Ah. Narrows down the possibilities to one. Callie is a piece of work."
"Your telling me. My shoulder still hasn't recovered from that tackle last week at practice."
"...do I need to remind her what I said?"
"Maybe-probably-no. What would they do next? Shackles?"
"It'd be worth it." (Even her Father's disappointment and ire would be worth it.)
"I could go for it. I've maxed out my social pariah points already. I can go the extra effort to demoralize her huge ego. It'd be fun."
Joss grins, it isn't entirely pleasant. "Sounds fun."
"That's a face. Evil sinister, love of my life. Your wicked ways are kinda hot."
"Perhaps I'll have to work my sinister wiles on you, loverboy," Joss leans a little towards him, but has enough sense not to distract him too much while driving.
"This is the house right here."
"Raincheck?" Joss teases Lex gently.
"Not in my daydreams."
He parks the car and goes wistful.
The siblings hop out of the truck and open up the house.
"Shoes off. Don't touch anything."
"I'm gonna set up a study area in our office so it looks like we're doing something productive."
She heads off to do that.
Joss toes out of her shoes and tucks one hand into her pocket, and reaches for Lex's again with her other.
Lex takes her hand and looks down at his dirty shoes and raggy second hand clothes which are in stark contrast to the house.
"Gotta make sure your parents don't think I'm here to rob the place, huh?"
"M'not allowed to have people over for anything but study sessions."
He leads them down a long and pristine hallway.
She squeezes his hand gently. "I think they might think I'm more likely to nick something. Teen delinquent and all."
Pauses. "I can sympathise."
"They won't think you're thieves. Just- don't touch anything. It's... they're very particular about everything. In the house."
They arrive at their destination and Asher punches a long code into a keypad. It takes a moment and the door buzzes open.
"Fancy. Are you a spy? Are you gonna show us your fancy... spy stuff?"
