The Genie drops her token upon unsuspecting tyrians
Permalink

With her last Master out of wishes and satisfied, Genie travels the ether looking for another suitable candidate. There's no rush, she's managed to gain enough control over the countless millennia that she's able to take her time and drift peacefully through the ether just observing the Earth and its people.

Eventually, she comes to a town, seemingly normal and decides to let chance have it's due and drops her token from high above the clouds to fall where it may.

Getting dumped isn't his favorite activity. This soon after losing Aiden, it makes him want to cut his losses and run. They always talked about running, in the old days, but it was always better staying with a sure thing. No matter how much he liked Scott and Lydia, this wasn't a sure thing.

When something falls from the sky onto a nearby roof, he's more than a little curious. Making sure that no one is looking, he makes his way up. What exactly is it?

It's a ring. Small and delicate looking. It looks old too, expensive.

It would fit him perfectly.

Maybe he can pawn it.

He puts it in his pocket, and hops off the roof.

The moment he touches it the connection is made.

She waits for him on the ground.

What the hell?

"Hey. Sorry if I wasn't supposed to be up there. Is this your building?"

It's clearly a hardware store, not a house, but any answer should be informative.

"You're not bothering me. You do have my ring though."

Sure he does.

"I'm not sure what you're talking about."

"I'm the Genie and you, Ethan Steiner, are my Master. Which means that you get three wishes. You can also give my ring to someone else if you so choose. This isn't a lock-in contract."

"So, genies are real and I'm the lucky one who gets to figure this out? How many masters have you had, exactly?"

"I haven't bothered to count. I've been a Genie for a very long time."

"Do you like that?"

"Not particularly. But I make people happy, so it measures up."

"What, I can't get you out of it?"

"You could. Death is the only way out. You can wish that if you so choose."

"I'm not looking forward to waste any. How important is it to avoid the word until I'm sure what I want?"

"You don't have to avoid it. When you've decided on a wish you should hold my ring in your hand, turn it three times and think of nothing else, focussing on the wish. It's a very deliberate thing."

"Useful. Can I wish you to a specific master after me, or is that cheating?"

"You can give my ring to anyone you want."

"I gotta say, things are really looking up. Any limits I should watch out for? Can you handle poverty? World peace? Resurrection?"

"The limit is my own power and your imagination. Luckily for you, I am the oldest and most powerful of my kind. World peace is tricky. That could involve delving into the mind of every individual on Earth and modding for non-aggression. If this is your wish, it shall be done."

"That might not be my first priority, then. How many people could I bring back with one wish?"

"Depends on how you phrase the wish."

"Do you offer critiques on phrasing, or is that less fun for you?"

"I can't tell you what to wish, but I can influence it after the fact. Shaping the magic and adding detail to it. I take your words and read the intent from your mind and mold the magic accordingly."

"I wish that any werewolf who dies going forward comes back to life instantly, fully healed. I wish that every werewolf who died in this town would come back to life, next to the Nemeton, except my brother, who should show up next to me. I wish that every human on Earth would stop aging after 30."
