"Well alright then." He bites his wrist again and holds it out to her. "Once more unto the breach."

"Or close the wall up with our English dead," Michelle responds, stepping close enough to take a mouthful herself.

Once he's sure she's taken enough, he uses all of his considerable vampire speed and snaps both of their necks simultaneously.

They don't even notice him moving, barely notice their own deaths.

And the next thing is them waking again, thirsty for something other than water.

They wake up next to each other on Michelle's bed. Through the open door they can see a very familiar man sitting in the kitchen.

(they are more thirsty than they have ever been in their entire existance)

Michelle snarls wordlessly. Because that man had caused her father's death. (But she still doesn't just- give in.)

Landri has no such hesitation. He is far more vengeful then Michelle, and he remembers the pain this man caused Michelle, remembers watching her failing to keep herself going in the wake of Popa's death, remembers not being in a much better state himself, and watching Michelle pull herself together to help him. Watching her stitch herself back together, less whole than before.

He's off the bed, and at the man before he can even think about it.

"Bastard," he snarls. "You-" his words desert him and instead he just bites into the man's neck.

And Michelle follows, because she's thirsty and can hear the man's heartbeat, and, God in heaven forgive her, she wants him dead.

She sinks her teeth into the other side of the man's neck.

(Her and Landri had always been good at working around one another.)

Marcel stands in the kitchen and waits for them to be done with their first taste of human blood and completing their transition into vampires.

He'd gone to a lot of effort to find just the right person for their momentus occasion.

It was satisfying watching the fear on the man's face, especially so once he caught sight of the colour of Marcel's skin.

He deserved all of this and more.

Landri pulls back first, and glances briefly to Marcel, before turning his attention back to Michelle who's still feeding.

Michelle rips back as she feels the man die. "You bastard," she sobs. "You killed him. He did nothing and you killed him!"

Landri wraps an arm around her, pulling her against him. (More than anything, her tears do seem cathartic, like something is finally healing.)

Marcel watches them silently, letting them have this moment.

Eventually Michelle's sobs subside, and after another moment clinging to Landri, she pulls slightly away, their arms still wrapped around one another, but facing Marcel now.

"Apologies, misyé," Michelle says, swiping slightly ineffectually at her eyes with her spare hand. "I believe I offered you a drink, or did you find my rum?"

"I helped myself."

He walks forward and hands them both large glasses of rum.

She smiles at Marcel, and even with tears still drying on her face, it's nothing so much as fond. "It would appear I am destined to be surrounded by gentlemen who make themselves at home in my house."

She takes the glass. "Merci."

"Ah, mais cheri," Lan takes his own. "You love us really."

Michelle giggles. "Did I say that I was complaining? I would hardly have it any other way." She raises her glass to Marcel. "To Monsieur Gerard, merci for this gift."

"It's not a gift but a promise. I'm going to rule this great city and you're going to help me do it. To loyalty, immortality, and glory. To monsters and slayers and those left behind. To us."

"To new beginnings," Lan adds. "Liberty!"

"To new friends, and the promise of the kingdom to come."
