… Did he trip or something? Because he's lost his balance, somewhat, feels kinda like the floor's moved beneath him.

And when he looks around from whatever position he lands in – perhaps he manages to stay up, maybe he caught himself – he appears to be in a room much like he was in before.

The other people, however, don't seem to be there. For that matter, nor does the phone.

Uh what.

...He's just gonna. Sit down on the floor a minute. Since he seems to be having some kind of bizarre dizzy spell. Or possibly be in shock. That could be a thing. Shock. Yeah.

The room doesn't seem to change! It seems rather continuously empty.

He also can't hear any gunshots, in case he's curious about that. Nor smashing glass, nor screaming, nor… well, it doesn't really sound like there are any noises except ones produced by him and his breathing?

....Okay.

Okay. Okay.

He clearly went into shock. That's gotta be what's happened. He saw people getting shot and he went into shock and lost time, that's a thing that happens, right, and, like, other people left maybe, but he's clearly okay, he's not hurt, he just, shock.

Okay.

He pulls out his phone so he can try and call his friends.

Oops, no signal! Such a shame, isn't that, especially since he's on college campus… and usually gets signal…

Hm. What was that noise? It sounds like someone opened a door.

(aaaaaa)

Okay. It's. Probably not the shooter. Presumably people shoot up schools because they want attention or something and it's just him here and hunting down one person is like not very dramatic. He's probably fine.

(He's a witness and he doesn't actually know if anyone else made it out...)

He's okay he's okay he's okay. He's just gonna. Um. ...Laying low's not gonna help, is it, if it's someone looking for him, and he doesn't have any way to get help and maybe no one knows where he is ... but on the other hand moving towards the sound is maybe not a good idea ... nothing here looks even vaguely weaponlike even the freaking chairs are bolted to the floor okay. Okay. Um.

He's ... gonna walk up to the door from the side and see if he can peek out into the hallway through the little window without making himself more visible than necessary. Okay. That sounds like a plan. Okay.

He can peek out into the hallway! And he'll see one of the boys from on the grass earlier walking along somewhat nervously, hoping he's not about to become the victim in some horror movie.

A few metres behind him is his friend from earlier, not that that's necessarily known to anyone but these two! He's nervously watching behind them.

Yep okay no guns. Okay. Not crazy murderous dude. Unless that one guy is the crazy murderous dude and left his gun somewhere and changed clothes but in that case he is presumably not in a crazy murderous mood anymore and anyway he looks really nervous so probably not.

Okay. Okay. He's probably gonna startle them but that's okay they'll live. Uh. Hopefully. Hopefully all of them live that would be nice.

He opens the door and peeks out. "Hi?"

Startled! Definitely startled! The one watching the back grabs the first one and starts to run, trying to drag him away, but the first tries to get a look and sees Jay. "It's okay!" he says quickly to the other. "I think."

"Yeah, not the crazy dude!" Jay pulls the door a little further open, showing empty hands. "Just hiding! Want to join me?"

"I– uh, people seem to be gone, like, they had all disappeared, like, we hid near a door in case anyone came, didn't want to go outside, and people weren't there, but I expected them to be somewhere."

"Yeah, I guess maybe everyone made a break for another building? I dunno I think I lost some time it was kind of intense. Are you getting cell service?"

He pulls out his cell and checks. "Nope." Looks around. "I don't know what this building is made of though. Apparently lead?" Haha. Agh.

"Ugh. It's the old buildings I guess, they weren't designing for it. Uh, are you both okay, by the way? Didn't, uh, get shot or anything?"

"Didn't get shot," he says. "Nope. Mostly fine. Just a little shocked."

Other guy sniffs a bit then says, "Yeah, I'm okay."

"Yeah, feel you, man. Just hoping all my friends are okay, I mean, I hope everyone's fine but you know what I mean. --Has it been quiet for a while?"

"Yeah? Like, ten minutes or something, I'm not actually sure how long – I didn't time it–" Nervous laugh. "But that's why we left to come look. For people. Without guns, hopefully."

"Yeah, good plan. Okay, I am a person without guns. We can go look for more I guess?"

"More people without guns, yeah. Sounds like a good idea."

Grunt from the person behind him. Seems sorta like a 'yes'.

"Okay cool. Okay." He glances both ways down the hallway again and then comes out of the room all the way. "Um. Jay, by the way. Which way are we heading?"

"I don't really want to go out front, because like, he was there before, even though he's, um, probably moved by now, but. Um. Maybe we should– check another exit to the building first? Maybe through a window, ready to duck?"

"Yeah, okay. Okay, uh, which way did y'all come from?"

"We were over by the bathrooms? At the back of the building. And we came in from that way," he says, pointing to the front of the building where the guy with the gun was found, "if you didn't know. Um. I think there's another entrance that way?" he says, again pointing.

"Okay. That way, then?"

"Yeah," he says, moving that way. "Oh, um, I'm Theo by the way."

Other person: "Owen."
